Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10, 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. In 2001, she launched The Corcoran Group in New York City. She later sold the brokerage to NRT for $66 millions. Shortly thereafter, she exited from the business. One of the show's original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank to date. She has been involved in 53 deals since February of 2020. The largest was a $350,000 investment to provide 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of 10 kids born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class located in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was constantly switching jobs throughout Corcoran's career. Her family depended sometimes on food delivered by a friendly local grocer for free food. Corcoran remembers her father, one who would drink too much and behaved towards her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, especially after he'd consumed some drinks. Corcoran struggled through her schooling and was eventually diagnosed with dyslexia. She attended an area Catholic elementary school and started the high school system at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran completed her studies at Leonia High School with a diploma in English, despite not completing several classes in her first year.
